Find your iPhone UDID on Windows or OS X after installing OS 3.0 Beta

After installing the iPhone 3.0 Beta you’ll find that you’re unable to sync your iPhone without having your iPhone’s UDID listed on an Apple Developer Connection account. The only problem is, if your UDID wasn’t previously listed, there’s no obvious way to find it with the 3.0 Beta software installed on your iPhone.

On OS X you can use XCODE’s iPhone browser window to get the UDID. On Window’s it almost as easy:

Windows XP: Browse to C:\Documents and Settings\%username%\Application Data\Apple Computer\Lockdown

Windows Vista: Browse to C:\Users\%username%\AppData\roaming\Apple Computer\Lockdown

The file found in that folder is entitled with your UDID. Enjoy 3.0 :D

Update: This can be found on OS X in the following directory: ~/Library/Application Support/MobileSync/Backups

what do u mean by C:\Users\%username%\AppData\roaming\Apple Computer\Lockdown??

  Hi Eric, if you copy and paste that file path in to the run dialog or the Address bar of an explorer window, it will take you to the folder in question.
  
  Alternatively you can replace %username% with your Windows Username. This is only for Windows Vista, for XP and down, you must use the other path.

I was in a hurry to get iphone 3.0 and bricked my iphone 2 days ago and was stuck until i found the website that i linked to my name above actually found them in facebook, just click on my name to go there. They had me up and running in no time and i now have complete access to their Apple developers account with my own user ID and password. It was worth it, just my 2 cents for anyone who is in the same boat i was.

That isn’t the right pathway for Windows XP. All I have in mine is 3 files which are Quicktime preferences files, all with different numbers! I only have 1 iPhone. Where do you guys get your misinformation?

The easiest and most ACCURATE way to obtain your UDID is a free app in the App Store called (Snip – not advertising for you). It will show you your UDID with just a click.
